Legendary Baseball Cards Auction Event

Huggins & Scott, a name synonymous with prestigious auctions in the sports memorabilia world, is set to enthrall baseball enthusiasts once again with their upcoming auction event featuring a plethora of legendary baseball cards and memorabilia. This spring, collectors and aficionados alike will have the opportunity to indulge in the thrill of bidding on some of the most sought-after pieces in the baseball memorabilia landscape.

One of the highlights of this extraordinary auction is the rare T206 Sherry “Magie” error card, a gem among the famed ‘Big Four’ of the T206 series. This card holds significant historical value due to a misspelling of outfielder Sherry Magee’s name, leading to its rarity and desirability among collectors. Sharing its elite status with iconic T206 cards like Honus Wagner, Eddie Plank, and Doyle NY Nat’l, the Magie card is a true treasure for any serious collector.

In a surprising turn of events, the auction will also unveil three previously undiscovered 1910 Baltimore News Orioles cards, marking a monumental find in the realm of baseball card collecting. These cards, part of a scarce schedule-card set predating the 1914 BN set that features Babe Ruth’s rookie card, add a layer of excitement for enthusiasts looking to add rare and unique pieces to their collections.

The auction extends its offerings to pre-war treasures, including coveted cards such as a 1934 World Wide Gum Babe Ruth (PSA 3) and Lou Gehrig (SGC 3), an 1887 N28 Allen & Ginter Mike “King” Kelly (SGC 6), an 1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Montgomery Ward (PSA 6), and a 1917 E135 Collins-McCarthy Honus Wagner (PSA 4). These relics from the early years of baseball history hold immense value and appeal to collectors who cherish the roots of the sport.

For enthusiasts of post-war baseball cards, the auction presents a diverse selection that includes a 1951 Bowman Mickey Mantle rookie card (PSA 3), a 1948-49 Leaf Jackie Robinson rookie (PSA 2), Hank Aaron’s 1954 Topps rookie (PSA 6) and 1955 Topps (PSA 8), a 1955 Topps Sandy Koufax (PSA 7), and a 1952 Topps Eddie Mathews rookie high number (PSA 4). Moreover, a complete 1961 Topps set featuring 524 of the 572 cards autographed will be up for grabs, along with signed memorabilia from baseball legends such as Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and Roberto Clemente.

Bidding for these exceptional pieces of baseball history is already underway, with the auction scheduled to conclude on Thursday, April 4, at 9 PM ET. This event offers a rare chance for collectors to own a piece of baseball’s rich past, with a range of rarities and memorabilia that cater to even the most discerning of tastes. Whether you’re a seasoned collector or a casual enthusiast, this auction is a golden opportunity to acquire a slice of baseball lore and history.
