Fanatics and Sotheby’s Showcase “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” Auction

Fanatics and Sotheby’s are joining forces once again, this time to unveil the highly-anticipated “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction. Following the triumph of their previous “Holy Grails” collaboration in the summer, which raked in over $7 million from just 33 premium sports cards, the duo is now gearing up for another landmark event showcasing rare and historic Upper Deck Exquisite cards. Set to kick off on December 16th, this auction is already sparking excitement among collectors worldwide.

The “Holy Grails” auction proved to be a massive success, with standout sales including a 1955 Topps Roberto Clemente PSA 9 card fetching an impressive $840,000, a 2003 LeBron James Exquisite rookie patch autograph selling for $432,000, and a Shohei Ohtani card breaking records at $336,000. These phenomenal results solidified the collaboration’s position as a dominant player in the ever-growing sports card market.

For the upcoming “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction, the spotlight will solely shine on cards from Upper Deck’s renowned Exquisite line. This product line reshaped the sports card industry with its high-quality materials, innovative designs, and coveted Rookie Patch Autographs (RPAs), setting a new standard for premium cards in the market. Among the 11 rare cards to be featured in this exclusive collection are individual LeBron James masterpieces and a striking Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman triple Logoman card commemorating the Chicago Bulls’ legendary dynasty.

More than mere trading cards, these Exquisite pieces are revered as works of art, blending rarity, player significance, and historical value into each card. The Exquisite line’s legacy traces back to its inception, where creator Karvin Cheung took a bold leap by introducing high-end RPAs at unprecedented price points. Though initially met with skepticism, Exquisite cards have since become highly sought after, commanding exorbitant prices and symbolizing cultural and collectible importance in the sports memorabilia world.

Scheduled to commence on December 16th, the “Exquisite | Capsule Collection” auction is expected to captivate a global audience of collectors, investors, and fans alike. With its exclusive lineup and Sotheby’s esteemed reputation for showcasing fine collectibles, this auction has the potential to redefine standards in the sports card market. Be sure to mark your calendars and witness firsthand the sale of some of the most extraordinary and coveted sports cards ever produced.
