Historic Baseball Card Sets & Memorabilia Featured in REA Auction

Robert Edward Auctions, a renowned name in the sports collectibles industry, is currently hosting its highly anticipated May Encore auction. With over 3,600 lots on display, the event promises a journey through the history of baseball, showcasing everything from complete 1950s baseball card sets to rare vintage cards and unique memorabilia pieces.

The auction, which kickstarted on Thursday, is set to unfold over a span of ten days, inviting collectors and sports enthusiasts to explore a plethora of valuable items. Among the standout lots are gems like the iconic T206 White Border Ty Cobb Bat Off Shoulder card dating back to 1909-1911, featuring a rare Uzit back. Another prized possession up for grabs is a Ty Cobb rookie card from the 1907 Wolverine News Postcard series, adding to the allure of vintage baseball collectibles.

For aficionados of vintage baseball sets, the auction presents treasures like the complete 1957 Topps Set and the near-complete 1958 Topps set. Additionally, high-grade cards from the 1950s Bowman and Topps series, including rookie cards of baseball legends such as Willie Mays, Mickey Mantle, and Sandy Koufax, are sure to draw keen interest. A special treat awaits collectors with a complete set break of the iconic 1951 Bowman set.

Memorabilia aficionados will find delight in rare pieces like a ticket stub from the 1957 NFL Championship Game and a 1920 Real Photo Postcard capturing the Harvard football team that competed in the Rose Bowl. REA President Brian Dwyer couldn’t contain his excitement about the auction, praising the high quality of the lots following the successful $15.4 million spring sale. Dwyer emphasized the strong interest from collectors and the premium nature of the items featured in the auction, reflecting the passion and dedication of the sports memorabilia community.
