Top Sports Card Sales in World Series

The world of sports card collecting has been bustling with record-breaking sales, and this year’s World Series brings more excitement as the Dodgers and Yankees take the field. While stars like Jasson Dominguez, Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Anthony Volpe, and Mookie Betts have commanded top dollar for their cards, there is one notable absence from the million-dollar club: Shohei Ohtani.

Among the showcased cards, Jasson Dominguez’s 1/1 Bowman Superfractor Autograph steals the spotlight with an impressive sale of $474,000. Known for his talent and promise, Dominguez’s card represents a valuable piece for any collector. Following closely is Aaron Judge with a card sold for $324,000, showcasing the enduring popularity and value of the Yankees star.

Juan Soto’s 1/1 Bowman Superfractor Autograph card, with its altered and regraded autograph, holds a unique history that adds to its allure. Despite being rumored to have been repurchased by PSA and withdrawn from the market, Soto’s card remains a significant piece for any collector lucky enough to own it.

Anthony Volpe’s red Bowman Chrome autograph, limited to just five copies, fetched an impressive $150,000 for a PSA 10 version. As a standout player for the Yankees, Volpe’s card exemplifies the high demand for quality cards from avid collectors and fans.

While Topps’ graphic provided insight into the top sports card sales, recent data from eBay and CardLadder suggests a potential revision may be needed for Shohei Ohtani’s highest sale. A 2018 Topps Definitive Gold Framed Shohei Ohtani Rookie Auto BGS 9.5, numbered 13/30, was reported to have sold for $350,000 on October 15. This figure hints at a higher valuation for Ohtani’s cards, possibly nearing the coveted half-million-dollar mark.

With the excitement of the World Series brewing, the sports card market continues to thrive, offering collectors the thrill of chasing after these high-value and sought-after cards. As the games unfold on the field, the battle for top sales in the sports card world mirrors the fierce competition between the Dodgers and the Yankees, adding an extra layer of excitement for fans and collectors alike.
